ALMATY, Kazakhstan — October 21, 2026 — Chengdu Forster Technology Co., Ltd. a China-based hydropower equipment manufacturer with nearly seven decades of turbine engineering experience, is participating in the 24th Kazakhstan International Exhibition “Energy, Electrical Equipment and Machine Building” — PowerExpo Almaty 2026 — taking place from October 21 to 23 at the Atakent International Exhibition Centre in Almaty.

PowerExpo Almaty is the principal B2B platform for the energy sector in Central Asia. The 2026 edition brings together 284 companies from 11 countries, with China, Kazakhstan and Russia forming the largest national contingents. The exhibition runs in parallel with Kazatomexpo 2026, the 9th Kazakhstan International Exhibition “Nuclear Power and Industry,” and features a comprehensive business programme centred on the Energy Professionals Forum.
A Turbine Portfolio Matched to Kazakhstan’s Small-Hydro Priorities
Forster’s participation is directly aligned with Kazakhstan’s accelerating push into small hydropower. The country possesses a technically feasible hydropower potential estimated at 62 billion kWh per year, with small rivers alone accounting for approximately 7.6 billion kWh annually. The government has identified 29 sites suitable for small hydropower installations, and a broader roadmap targets 32 reservoirs and canals for small-hydro development. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization has assessed Kazakhstan’s small hydropower potential at 2,707 MW — the highest among Central Asian states.
Forster’s product range speaks to precisely this segment. The company manufactures Kaplan, S-Tube Tubular, Francis, Turgo and Pelton turbines, with per-unit capacity reaching up to 20,000 kW. Beyond turbines, Forster supplies governors, automated microcomputer-integrated control systems, transformers, valves and automatic sewage cleaners — a full electrical and mechanical ancillary package for hydroelectric plants. The company operates under IEC and GB standards and holds CE, ISO, TUV and SGS certifications.

A Relationship Already in Motion
Forster’s presence at PowerExpo Almaty 2026 builds on an existing engagement with the Kazakh market. A delegation of Kazakhstan customers has previously travelled to Forster’s manufacturing base in Sichuan for an on-site inspection of its hydropower turbine production facilities. The company has also been active elsewhere in Central Asia, exhibiting at Power Uzbekistan 2026 in Tashkent and completing the shipment of a customised 250 kW axial-flow turbine generator unit to a Central Asian customer.
At its stand, Forster is presenting its small- and medium-hydro turbine configurations alongside its automation and control solutions, with technical teams available to discuss site-specific requirements for Kazakhstan’s identified small-hydro locations.
