Somethings About Hydroelectric Turbine Generators

Author: source: date: 2020-06-29 10:53:32
Some things about hydroelectric generators

A hydroelectric generator set is a generator set driven by a hydro turbine. Due to the different natural conditions of the hydropower station, the capacity and speed of the hydro-generator set vary widely. Generally, small-sized hydroelectric generators and high-speed hydroelectric generators driven by impact hydraulic turbines mostly adopt a horizontal structure, while large and medium-sized generators adopt a vertical structure. Since most hydropower stations are located far away from the city, they usually need to supply power to the load through a long transmission line.

Therefore, the power system puts forward higher requirements for the operation stability of the hydroelectric generator: the motor parameters need to be carefully selected; The moment of inertia is required to be large. Therefore, the appearance of a hydro-generator is different from that of a turbo-generator in that its rotor has a large diameter and a short length. The time required for start-up and grid connection of the hydro-generator set is relatively short, and the operation and scheduling are flexible. In addition to general power generation, it is particularly suitable for use as a peak shaving unit and an accident standby unit. The maximum capacity of the hydro-generator set has reached 800,000 kilowatts (the runner of the unit with a installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts has been successfully developed in my country).
